Mission Grammar is proud to partner with Boston Public Schools to offer the Boston Pre-K (BPK) program in our K0 and K1 classrooms. This tuition-free program provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning through an engaging, hands-on curriculum rooted in learning through play.

BPK Curriculum at Mission Grammar
Our BPK program implements the Focus Curriculum, a high-quality, play-based curriculum pioneered by Boston Public Schools (BPS). Hands-on play and child-driven, teacher-guided experiences are fundamental to this type of learning.
The Focus Curriculum encourages exploration, discovery, and creativity through active engagement with materials that reflect diverse cultural identities and lived experiences. Early literacy is at the forefront of this curriculum with the intention to prepare scholars for future success.

Applying for BPK
All children are eligible for BPK as long as they are a Boston resident and turn 3 or 4 years old by 9/1 of the upcoming school year
- Complete an application through GreatStarts found on Avela. Filter for “Boston Pre-K.” Mission Grammar shows up as a K0/K1 site under the “Independent Schools” category.
- Rank Mission Grammar along with any other schools you are considering. Seats are assigned based on your home address and your preferences in this ranking system.
- If you are offered a seat at Mission Grammar, accept and register through the portal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are BPK students Boston Public Schools Students?
No, only children enrolled at a Boston Public School are BPS students. However, all students enrolled in FCCs, CBOs, Independent Schools or Boston Public Schools are Boston Pre-K students.
Does BPK offer transportation?
No. Community settings do not offer transportation. Only students enrolled at Boston Public Schools can receive transportation services, subject to BPS policy.
Does BPK cover before-care, after-care, or summer school?
No, before-care, after-care, and summer school are not included in BPK. However, Mission Grammar holds a robust extended day program that is offered to families at a low cost and is voucher-eligible.
