Faith Formation
All are welcome at Mission Grammar School in our inclusive community of faith and culture. As part of Boston’s Basilica, the Mission Church, our scholars are surrounded by God’s love and inspired to be the best people they can be.
We implement the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston Religion Standards in collaboration with the We Believe Curriculum. Alongside these standards, we focus on the Catholic Social Teaching, providing opportunities for our scholars to make profound connections with justice, service, and spirituality.

We begin and end each day in prayer, and Gospel values are woven throughout our curriculum, our everyday relationships, and our social-emotional learning.
Monthly School Masses
Each month, our school community gathers for Mass, with every grade K1 – 6th taking a turn to plan, prepare, and participate. Each Mass’ theme, prayers, and reflections connect directly to what scholars are learning in Religion classes, and those from the hosting grade serve as readers and gift bearers.
Lenten Retreat (K2 – 6th Grade)
Every grade takes part in a retreat during Lent designed to deepen their understanding of who Jesus Christ is and what he promises us through his life, death, and resurrection. Retreats include prayer, walking the Stations of the Cross, and age-appropriate activities that bring these truths to life for scholars at every stage of their faith journey.
Sacramental Program
We offer a Sacramental Program each spring for scholars who wish to baptized, as well as for baptized scholars preparing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. This program includes classes not only for scholars but for their parents as well, so that families can walk this journey together.
Connecting Families to Our Parish Community
Faith formation extends beyond the classroom. We work to connect our school families with our parish community, helping build lasting relationships that support scholars and their families in their faith long after the school day ends.
