Chasing his dreams from MG until today

In 2005, President Ali Dutson was in her first year of teaching at Mission Grammar and one of her incredible scholars was Malik. He was, and still is today, an incredibly smart man, as she reminisces looking at her first class photo on her desk.

Malik, who now lives in Chicago, thinks back on his time as a Mission Grammar scholar with great fondness, some of his closest friends were made during his time at Mission Grammar and teachers like Ms. Weller (now Mrs. Dutson) and Mr. Hayle made a big impact on his life. After Mission, Malik attended Cathedral High School graduating as a full honors student and then attended Stonehill College where he majored in marketing with a minor in philosophy. After graduation Malik moved to Chicago to work in radio promotion.

He has continued to follow his dreams and in January he will be launching his own business that will use digital marketing to develop artists and share their music. Keep an eye out for more details to come in the new year!

Malik’s advice to current MG scholars is to take each of your experiences as a learning opportunity. Each person you meet, other scholars, your teachers, are all people who you can learn from.

Malik cherished his time at Mission Grammar and has used the life lessons taught to help him be successful in life. He stays true to the golden rule, is a peacemaker wherever he goes, and developed a love for lifelong learning and growth.
