Current Opportunities at Mission Grammar School

Toddler Teacher

Overview: Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Mission Grammar School is an, urban, College Prep, Catholic school established and staffed by School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1889 in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The administration, faculty and staff serve students from diverse religious, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. We have a valuable resource in our faculty, staff, and families who work in close collaboration and with mutual respect to meet the educational needs of all Scholars.

Our champion teachers must possess:

A Belief in a Child’s Innate Brilliance

Champion teachers believe that every person is born with innate brilliance; it is not the job of a teacher to make a child brilliant. Instead, it is our responsibility to foster the scholars’ unique brilliances, encourage our scholars to see themselves as brilliant, and help our scholars’ brilliance continue to grow through rigorous and relevant academic work.

Social and Emotional Learning

Champion teachers believe in the growth and learning of the whole child, and recognize the importance of social and emotional learning in the classroom. Champion teachers believe and carry out the practices of the Responsive Classroom pedagogy.

Rigorous planning and instruction

Champion teachers engage and challenge students to think and conceptualize. Mission Grammar Teachers will plan with units aligned to Common Core standards and deliver instruction with tenacious focus on rigor and engagement.

Individualized Feedback

Champion teachers assess their students frequently and follow-up with individualized feedback and support. Mission Grammar teachers AND scholars will receive prompt and frequent feedback on their performance, emphasizing a Growth Mindset.

“The environment at Mission Grammar makes me feel at home. Everyone respects and helps each other and I enjoy taking care of the scholars and the strong relationships that teachers have with the parents and the community.”

Ms. Colón, Toddler Teacher

“Mission Grammar is a place where we truly believe in the abilities of our scholars. As a teacher here, I strive to cultivate self-assuredness, strong community, and love of learning, and I believe students will leave Mission Grammar with those qualities.”

Ms. Abbott, First Grade Teacher

“The ability to give each student without prejudice the tools and opportunity of an education so they are successful in their own right is why I do this work at Mission Grammar School.”

Ms. T, K1 Teacher

“Mission Grammar School provides scholars with a well-rounded education that helps them develop both as learners and members of society. Mission Grammar teachers display high expectations for their students, and create an environment focused on growth.”
